Georgetown Women's Rowing Starts Season Strong at Jesuit Invitational
Camden, N.J. - The Georgetown women's rowing team opened their spring season at the 10th Annual Jesuit Invitational, as the Georgetown freshman eight captured the freshman eight race and Georgetown B and Georgetown A finished third and fifth respectively in the varsity eight race.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Women's rowing captain's Kaitlin Roe (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum Senior) and Laura Donaldson (Berkeley, Calif./Berkeley) sat down to discuss the upcoming spring season, the progress they have seen from their teammates since the end of the fall and taking on leadership roles in a program full of underclassmen.Roe, a senior and Donaldson, a junior, have both rowed at Georgetown since their freshmen year and gained experience on the water prior to their time on the Hilltop at their respective high schools.

Georgetown University Women's Rowing Concludes Fall Season
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Despite the cold conditions the Georgetown University rowing team concluded its fall season on Saturday participating in a series of intersquad races, including a three-mile head race and a 1000 meter sprint race. Regatta organizers cut the day short after two races due to unseasonable cold weather and windy conditions.

Georgetown Rowing Places Three Boats in Top 10 at Head of the Occoquan
Lorton, Va. - The Georgetown University rowing novice teams placed three in the top ten during the Head of the Occoquan on the Occoquan Reservoir in Lorton, Va. this past Saturday. Against a field that included the Naval Academy, Delaware, Old Dominion and George Mason among others, Georgetown 'B' placed sixth, with Georgetown 'Lightweight A' and Georgetown 'A' finishing eighth and ninth respectively.

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Georgetown University rowing team entered its novice lightweight and openweight 8+, in the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pa. this past Saturday, with the openweights finishing fifth and the lightweights placing in the top 15.

Lightweight and Championship Four Boats Perform Well at 44th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta
This past weekend, Georgetown Rowing competed in the fall's premier event, the 44th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass. The Hoyas entered two boats, one in the Championship Four and the other in the Lightweight Four, and performed well against some of the top universities and rowing clubs from around the world.

Seven Hoya boats competed in the 4,000-meter (2.4 mile) Head Race on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa. GU finished first in the Lightweight College Four, first and third in the College Four and second in the College Eight.

Georgetown Crew's 50th Anniversary Celebration
Georgetown University would like you to come celebrate 50 years of modern-era crew on September 19-21, 2008. The year 1958 was a special year in the history of Georgetown University and its athletics programs. It marked the return of intercollegiate rowing competition to the Hilltop forever. Fifty years later, we now look to celebrate this occasion with the oarsmen of that era, as well as with the rowers from all the intervening years. Join former teammates, friends, coaches, sons and daughters as we assemble the largest gathering of the Georgetown rowing community in the history of the program.

28th Annual Charlie Butt Scullers' Head of the Potomac Ignites Georgetown Crew and Rowing Fall Seasons
This upcoming weekend marks the beginning of the 2008 fall seasons for Georgetown Crew and Georgetown Rowing. Both groups will have boats in the 28th annual Charlie Butt Scullers' Head of the Potomac, to be held on Sunday, September 21. The men will have two boats participating in the Men's Open Eight and three boats involved with the Men's Club Eight, while the women will have four boats take part in the Women's Open Eight.

Georgetown Graduate Altman ('97) Wins Gold, Women's Novice Lightweight Coach Trowbridge Captures Silver at 2008 FISA World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships.
Georgetown University graduates Mike Altman ('97), Vince Puma ('90) and women's novice lightweight coach Sarah Trowbridge were all competitors in the 2008 FISA World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships from Linz, Austria. Altman was part of the U.S. lightweight men's eight that won gold on the final day of competition, while Trowbridge and the women's four brought home a silver medal.

Georgetown Baseball, Women's Rowing and Men's Swimming and Diving Earn BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Awards
The BIG EAST Conference has announced that Georgetown baseball, women's rowing and men's swimming and diving are three of 23 teams that have been recognized with 2007-08 Team Academic Excellence Awards. These awards recognize the highest collective grade-point averages in each conference sport.

Hoya Women's Lightweight Rowers Alex Vezina and Alexis Zink Named All-Americans
Georgetown rowers Alex Vezina (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) and Alexis Zink (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Visitation) were named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association's (CRCA) Pocock Lightweight All-American team for the spring season. Both ladies were recognized as outstanding performers in NCAA women's rowing.
